Our Story
The Beginning
It Started With a Problem
In 2007, a small group of parents in Victoria had children with physical and cognitive challenges. There was a little league team for these kids, but nowhere to practice. Nowhere to play games. Nowhere that truly fit.
For a while, they borrowed a field behind a Lutheran church. They made it work because that is what parents do.
Then an opportunity came. When the city built a new softball complex near the community center, the girls’ teams moved out of Riverside Park. Those old fields sat empty.
- The parents saw possibility.

More Than a Field
A Community, Not Just a League
Something unexpected happened when we started playing games. Parents sat in the stands together. They started talking.
For the first time, many of them were sitting next to someone who truly understood their life. The late nights. The worry. The small victories nobody else notices.
They shared stories. They traded doctor recommendations. They laughed together and sometimes cried together.
- "What began as a sports league became a support system. The kids found teammates. The parents found each other."

The People Behind the Mission
Challenge Athletes Dream Complex is run entirely by volunteers. Our board members and helpers are parents, grandparents, community advocates, and people who simply believe every athlete deserves a chance.
We are not professional sports administrators. We are neighbors who saw a need and decided to fill it. That grassroots spirit has carried us for nearly two decades.
Looking Forward
The Dream Continues
- We are not done yet.
Our goal is to reach every family in Victoria County and all seven surrounding counties who has a child or adult with challenges. We want them to know this place exists. We want them to know they are welcome.
We are rebuilding our children’s programs. We are spreading the word. And we are always looking for more people to join us.
- The dream is bigger than one field.
